Munster’s problems at scrum half continue after the news that Alby Mathewson faces a scan on the knee injury he picked up against Leinster and could now miss the province’s Champions Cup game against Exeter Chiefs on Saturday.The former All Black joins fellow number nines Conor Murray, James Hart and Neil Cronin on the sidelines.
That leaves Duncan Williams and Jack Stafford as the only scrum halves available for selection from the senior squad and Academy contracted players.Calvin Nash suffered an ankle injury while playing for Munster A on Friday night and underwent an MRI scan to determine the extent of it on Monday. In that game, Munster had a bonus point win over Scarlets A.
They now play Leinster A in the final group game with the winners reaching the Celtic Cup Final.Elsehwere on the injury front, Rhys Marshall and tighthead prop John Ryan both returned to training this week ahead of the European action.
