NOW in its seventh year the Make A Move Festival of Hip Hop happens in various venues across the city this weekend celebrating street generated culture from Hip-Hop, Grime and Spoken Word backgrounds.
From October 4 to October 7 expect live performances, discussions and workshops.
Music Generation and Make a Move are working together to highlight the high quality of rap culture developing in the mid-west, festival organiser Shane Curtin explained.
“Music takes centre stage at the Cross County Cypher on the Saturday afternoon bringing the very best young rappers from all over Munster to Limerick.
“The world’s attention has been on Irish rap in the last 12 months with features in the Guardian, Pitchfork and the New York Times.
“Absent from that narrative is the extraordinary ongoing work done through workshops around the country in developing this new generation of Irish voices.
“In Limerick and Cork, Music Generation have been to the fore in this regard and Make a Move is once again delighted to collaborate with them in providing a key platform for this young talent at our Saturday afternoon gig in The Record Room from 4pm”
This event will be preceded by a number of panel discussions on progressing in terms of artistic development in the music industry at Music Generation Creative Centre, Cecil Street from 2pm.
