Liam loses battle for life in Turkey

-

A LIMERICK man, who was in a coma in Turkey after suffering a massive stroke while on holiday, has passed away.

On February 28, Liam McCarthy from Castletroy suffered a life-changing stroke while on holiday in Fethiye, Turkey and was taken to Isparta University Hospital where he remained in a critical condition on a life support machine.

His twin sister Dee and sister, Elaine, flew out to be at his bedside and the family began a fundraising campaign to bring him home.

But the 52-year old lost his battle for life on Wednesday morning.

Dee told the Limerick Post that she and her family are extremely grateful to everyone who helped them in their efforts to bring Liam back to Limerick.
