A RARE visit by a Russian music ensemble takes place at Friars’ Gate, Kilmallock on Thursday May 17 for an 8pm concert. From St. Petersburg, The Lyra Vocal Ensemble is comprised of Evgenii Tsvetkov tenor, Marina Busse soprano, Aleksei Goloviznin basso and Zlata Gogol contralto.
Each of them works as professional musicians singing in various churches around St. Petersburg and some Lyra members are soloists with musical theatres in the city.
“Through their performances they want to introduce the musical heritage of the Russian Orthodox Church as well as the traditions of Russian folk music and popular classics. The programme will include work by Davydov, Rakhmaninov, Strauss, Prokofiev and many more.”
