Soulful Clare songstress Siomha and Limerick singer/ songwriter Brian O’Brien will perform a double header this weekend.
Siomha Brock has released a new video for her song ‘Cover Me’. The track showcases perfectly her blend of funk and Irish soul with its warm jazz sound and graceful vocals; a nod to Donna Summer’s ‘Love to Love You’ disco classic make this upcoming gig a very sweet proposition.
This show will feature Siomha on some tasteful guitar playing and a smokin’ funky band among them, regular collaborators Cein Daly on bass, percussion and Martin Atkinson on keys and synth.
Check out Siomha on a live take of ‘July Red Sky’ filmed on The Burren to get a sense of how the landscape and rugged nature of her native County Clare has become a huge source of inspiration.
Limerick native Brian O’Brien has explored many different genres of music in the past decades, from metal, rap to folk and many stops in between. These influences blend to create what is ultimately Brian’s unique recipe for song. The most prominent of these ingredients is his darker take on North American Folk. He works with gritty and abrasive vocal tones that add a timelessness to his voice. Brian draws great inspiration and style from the Irish ballad, Brian shapes his writings tightly around the structure and word play of old Irish lamentations.
Siomha and Brian O’Brien play this double header show on Thursday May 3 at Dolan’s.
