OVER €100,000 in cash and drugs have been seized in Limerick by Gardai who also arrested one man as part of a targeted operation into organised crime.
As part of a joint intelligence-led operation targeting the sale and supply of controlled drugs in Limerick City, Gardai launched the operation on Monday afternoon with members of the Limerick Divisional Drug Unit and Revenue conducting a planned search of a premises in Limerick City.
During the course of the search Controlled Drugs including alprazolam tablets and cannabis resin with an estimated street value of up to €55,000 were seized.
The drugs have since been sent for analysis.
€51,000 in cash, as well as a quantity of cigarettes and tobacco were also seized.
During the course of the search, a male in his 50s was arrested and is currently detained under the provisions of Section 2 Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act 1996 at Roxboro Road Garda Station in Limerick.
