4.48 Psychosis on stage

Belltable; April 25-28

Written a decade ago, 4.48 Psychosis is the last of five plays written by British playwright Sarah Kane, having had its premier a year after her death.

Opening this Wednesday 25 at Belltable for a three nights, 8pm, anticipate a novel work for which the text has no set characters or stage directions, nor an indication of the number or gender of the performers.

“A brave and challenging examination of how depression and psychosis affects the mind, the play still resonates as Ireland faces increased awareness of mental health issues.

“Performed by an ensemble cast of first year students of the BA in Contemporary and Applied Theatre Studies programme at Mary Immaculate College, this production is a confrontational, relentless and raw piece of theatre that promises to challenge, enlighten and engage.”

Talented dramaturg/ playwright Ann Blake directs with Mags O’Donoghue on stage management, Norma Lowney on design, Dr Mike Finneran MIC on lighting. Carole Quigley is producer. Book on venue manager www.limetreetheatre.ie
