GARDAÍ in Bruff are investigating burglaries at two commercial premises in County Limerick over a 24 hour period. A large quantity of cigarettes was stolen from Greene’s Service Station in Cappamore at around 2.30am on Sunday while during the early hours of Monday morning, a significant sum of cash was taken from the Centra store in Caherconlish.

Mental Health talk

ONE of Ireland’s leading entrepreneurs and founder of boards.ie Tom Murphy will speak about his mental health journey on Thursday, April 5 at the Clayton Hotel from 8pm. Run under the auspices of GROW, the community mental health movement, the talk is free and open to all with donations being accepted by the organisation. Bank of Ireland restructure

JOB losses among middle management are expected at Bank of Ireland as chief executive Francesca McDonagh embarks on a cost-cutting strategy. The move could see up to 200 job cuts throughout the branch network with a 15 per cent reduction in grades from middle managers upwards. The bank confirmed that the voluntary parting scheme was available to employees as moves to streamline the organisation for long term sustainability continues. Since 2008, staff number at the bank have fallen by 30 per cent as cost saving measures continue including the introduction of a new labour saving IT system recently.

Giving back

ALMOST €1million was raised for Limerick charities and community groups by some of the region’s top companies. Data complied by Business in the Community Ireland (BITCI) shows that €927,224 and 3423 volunteer hours were completed by workers at 27 companies in Limerick who provided €445,036 in cash donations, €146,811 in employee fundraising and €335,378 in in-kind donations. BITCI chief executive Tomás Sercovich said that more companies were becoming aware of the fact that social involvement can drive employee engagement and can also attract the best talent as employees now expect their employers to have a community strategy in place.
