University of Limerick to host a conversation with television judge

Michelle Visage

“What’s the Tea? University of Limerick hosts a conversation with Michelle Visage” on Friday, March 16 at Dolans Warehouse at 8pm.

The Hate and Hostility Research Group (HHRG) at University of Limerick are delighted to announce that it will be hosting a “conversation” with Michelle Visage, judge on Ireland’s Got Talent and Ru Paul’s Drag Race.

Michelle will be ‘In Conversation’ with Jennifer Schweppe of the HHRG on Friday 16th March in Dolan’s warehouse in Limerick city at 8pm. This is part of the ‘academic meets activist’ series of HHRG events. Michelle will be speaking about identity, anti-trans violence, the mainstreaming of drag, and being an LGBTI ally.

Speaking before the event, Michelle Visage said: “I am SO excited to be coming to speak at the University of Limerick! As an LGBTQIA+ ally and vocal advocate for gay rights and equality, I can’t wait to talk with our future leaders and like-minded individuals about the plights we are facing today including Repeal the 8th.”

Jennifer Schweppe of the HHRG said: “Core to the work of the Hate and Hostility Research Group is addressing prejudice and violence against minoritised members of society, and we are thrilled to be welcoming Michelle Visage this week, an individual who has worked tirelessly as an advocate for the LGBTQIA+ community.”

Dolan’s warehouse is set to host a drag after party extravaganza immediately after the University of Limerick ‘What’s the Tea?’ event at 9.30pm. This event will boast drag talent from across Limerick and further afield and will be another opportunity for people in Limerick to come along and support the Limerick Repeal the 8th Campaign and learn more about the work being done by Repeal LK.
