THE THREAT of Industrial action by Junior Doctors at the University Hospital Limerick has been lifted.
There has been a breakthrough in the row on overtime payments. The dispute – which affects hospitals countrywide – began last year when junior doctors were told they would not be paid overtime unless this was authorised and rostered in advance.
Junior doctors had been instructed by the Irish Medical Organisation (IMO) to keep a record of all overtime worked in order to claim payment, After talks last week the IMO said it was withdrawing notice of industrial action as sufficient progress had been made.
