Something for the weekend, chords and canvas…

The opening of Samuel Walsh’s drawings at The Hunt Museum, with Dr Edward Walsh Pic: Keith Wiseman

The Segment & Apple by Sam Walsh

ABSTRACT artist Samuel Walsh has a new show of drawings at Hunt Museum current into April 10, ‘The Segment & Apple Drawings’. From the Hunt’s exhibition team: “In pursuit of the idea that scale does not diminish discipline value, Walsh’s Segment drawings are taken from larger drawings which themselves come from thumbnail sized sketches. He has been making his Segment drawings since 2008, and has now completed 133.

“Materials used include ink and liquid acrylic or water added to gouache.”

Last year Walsh won The Savills Arts Prize for contemporary art, worth €5,000.

Choral master workshop at UL

Sign up for the weekly Limerick Post newsletter

THE Association of Irish Choirs invites choral singers to a workshop on vocal health and production on Sunday February 18, 11am to 2.30pm, Irish World Academy at UL.

Many choral singers look for help with vocal production issues or need a refresher on the basics of healthy, natural singing technique, breath control and support and posture. In this workshop, efficient ways for the body to support the voice will be explored using natural techniques and vocal exercises and warm-ups.

These enable the singer to use their body to maximise their vocal potential to support the voice.

It will be delivered by Alan Leech, a leading tenor and choral practitioner. He has been a member of Chamber Choir Ireland for the last 14 years, where he also facilitates their education projects.
