-

Coláiste Chiaráin has concluded a successful run of “Hairspray the Musical” in the  Lime Tree Theatre, Mary Immaculate College. The show ran from Friday 26th to Saturday 27th January with both nights a sellout! The hardworking cast and crew had been preparing for this production since September 2017 and put in tireless hours after school, during the Christmas holidays, mid-terms and the weekends.

Over the years Coláiste Chiaráin has been renowned for its remarkable performances of musical theatre. Some past productions are; “Little Shop of Horrors”, “A Night at the Musicals”, “We Will Rock U”, “Grease”, “The Wiz”, “Oliver!”, “All Shook Up”, “Hi-Tech School Musical”, “School of Fame” and “Back to the 80’s”. This production of “Hairspray” has surpassed them all. The audience, which included Mr. George O’Callaghan, LCETB Chief Executive and Mayor of Limerick City and County, Councillor Stephen Keary, were blown away with the immense talent that was on display.

The diligent cast certainly showcased their expertise as well as the production team. Mr. Noel Lennon (Musical Director), Mr. Fergal Moore (Producer), Ms. Mary-Kate Hanley (Choral Director), Ms. Barbara Meaney (Choreographer) and Mr. Des Henn (Director) put in much time and effort into this musical and their hard work was clearly evident in all the productions. The entire team provided an amazing show for the public.

Congratulations to the cast and crew from Coláiste Chiaráin and all the staff in the Lime Tree theatre.
