LIMERICK Fianna Fáil TD Willie O’Dea has called on Social Protection Minister Regina Doherty to speed up a remedy for pensioners who are on reduced payments because they took time out of the workforce.
The issue mainly concerns women who left paid employment to raise children and particularly those affected by the marriage ban.
Deputy O’Dea has said the numbers involved were continuing to grow and that some pensioners were dying without receiving a timely remedy.
“We are dealing with pensioners here. They do not necessarily have years and years to wait,” he said.
