Limerick man’s body recovered in Killaloe

EMERGENCY services have recovered a body of a Limerick man from the river Shannon at Killaloe. The man – who is believed to be in his early 50’s – had been missing for less than 24 hours.

The Killaloe unit of the Coat Guard were involved in the recovery of the body along with Killaloe Gardai, the local fire service and a HSE ambulance and paramedics were on the scene.

The man was declared dead by a local GP. The emergency services were notified that the body had been seen in the water early on Wednesday afternoon near the car-park on the Ballina side of the river.

A post mortem will be carried ot at the University Hospital in Limerick.
