ON THE Nail literary gathering regroups for the new year on Tuesday January 9 at Nelly’s Corner café on Nicholas Street, 8pm. There will be welcome for two guest readers, Fulbright scholar Kevin Kiely and Bernadette Ní Riada.
The evening is free to join and open to poets, novelists, storytellers, musicians, bohemians and the rest of us plain Joe Public. Some background on the January speakers:
Kevin Kiely is a poet, novelist, literary critic, raconteur, Fulbright Scholar, Washington DC and PhD in Modernist Poetry UCD. He’s won six Arts Council Bursaries in Literature, the Kavanagh Fellowship in Poetry, Bisto Fiction Award.
Kiely’s essays on poetry, the arts and culture are published widely in esteemed journals.
He is a playwright and academic.
Kerry woman Bernadette Ní Riada writes poetry and ‘flash fiction’. Some of her work has been published and she has performed her poems on Radio Kerry. Recently Ní Riada was placed 3rd in the Jester of the Kingdom Competition and was second runner up in the Bring Your Limericks to Limerick Competition.
