During the month of January, householders can bring their Christmas trees free of charge to any of the Recycling Centres across Limerick city and county.
Limerick City and County Council is encouraging all households to dispose of their Christmas trees in an environmentally friendly way.
The council-run recycling centres in Mungret, Kilmallock, Newcastle West and Gortadroma will accept Christmas Trees for the month of January.
Opening hours for the Civic Amenity Centres in Mungret, Kilmallock and Newcastle West can be found here while Gortadroma can be contacted on 069 82339.
In addition Limerick City and County Council is setting up three additional collection points when people can drop off their Christmas Trees for recycling.
Christmas trees, recycling, LoThe collection points will be open from 9.30am until 3pm on the following days and locations:
Saturday, January 6 – Our Lady Of Lourdes, Childers Road
Friday, January 12 – Watch House Cross Complex, Moyross
Saturday, January 13 – Musgrave’s Car Park, Park Road, Rhebogue
All tress will be shredded for use as bark mulch across the various parks in Limerick.
There is a limit of one tree per person.
