COUNCILLORS in Limerickโ€™s Metropolitan District believe there is an urgent need for community centres in the city and have urged council officials to visit St Munchinโ€™s Resource Centre to see how they can emulate its success in other urban areas.

Solidarity councillor Paul Keller called for urgent action in getting a community centre established in Garryowen.

Fianna Fail councillor Kieran Oโ€™Hanlon said the council needed to be more active and felt that finding a greenfield site was the best solution for a community centre in Garryowen.

Party colleague Jerry Oโ€™Dea pointed out that the people in the area deserved a โ€œpurpose built facilityโ€.
