Improved train journey times from Limerick

-

Changes to Iarnród Éireann’s train timetables will see some minor improvements in journey times from Limerick’s Colbert Station from this Sunday.

Passengers travelling from Limerick to Dublin and Cork will benefit from journey time improvements of between two and 12 minutes, including services via Limerick Junction.

This follows line improvement works, and recent Limerick Station signaling and platform works.

To facilitate this, departure times and stopping times at intermediate stations will have changed in many instances, particularly departure times from Limerick Junction to Limerick.

Additionally, on Sundays only, the 08.20 Limerick to Heuston; 18.25 and 19.25 Heuston to Limerick services will all have an additional stop at Monasterevin.

The following services will have earlier departure times: The 09.45 Limerick Junction to Waterford service will depart at 09.40; The 17.25 Limerick to Ballybrophy service via Nenagh will depart at 17.20 and the Sunday only 09.40 Limerick to Limerick Junction service will depart at 09.30.

A spokesperson for Iarnród Éireann said “we are delighted to deliver these journey time improvements to Limerick rail customers. Works to improve our lines and upgrade signaling and platforms in Limerick’s Colbert Station can cause disruption while they take place, but are ultimately delivering this benefit to our customers, making rail journey times more competitive.”

Customers are advised to check times before travel as there have been minor changes to departure and arrival times on many services, including both earlier and later departure times, and including intermediate stations.
