Traffic calming measures for Rathkeale

-

€178,000 has been approved for traffic calming measures in Rathkeale, following a special meeting of the Adare-Rathkeale municipal district council members.

Local Fine Gael councillor Adam Teskey said that the plan will include new road markings and an extension to the footpath at the Church side of Thomas Street with a reduction in lane width.

“The measures will also incorporate table top ramps, build out areas and round top ramps to be placed on New Line Road, Church Street, Main Street, Well Lane and Boherboy,” Cllr Teskey explained.

“The two new pedestrian crossings being provided for will be at Coláiste na Trócaire and the second one at Church Street to provide safe access for the staff and pupils of Rathkeale No. 2 National School.”

Cllr Teskey said he hopes that these measures will make the town a better and safer place.

It is expected that the work will get under way in the coming weeks.
