MORE than 40 students of National Learning Network (NLN) in Limerick have been honoured for their inspirational efforts in achieving a range of qualifications.
The certification ceremony was attended by Minister of State Patrick OโDonovan who praised the commitment and enthusiasm shown by students studying NLN courses.
The students who attend the National Learning Network, which is a division of the Rehab Group, completed a training programme to develop their personal, social and work related skills, that helps them achieve greater levels of independence and community integration.
Kevin Hanly, who was a student on the Rehabilitative Training programme, spoke proudly of his achievement in completing the course.
โThe programme provided me with the confidence and opportunities to try new things and challenge myself in all areasย of my life such as travelling independently, completing part-time evening courses, becoming involved in my community and identifying my strengths and interests.”
โThe experience I gainedย and the skills I developed whileย on the rehabilitative training programme helped to provideย a solid foundation in making decisions about my future andย moving on to college,โ he explained.
Minister OโDonovan saidย the students should be very proud of their achievements during the course of the programme.
“It is a privilege to present you with your awards and to acknowledge your accomplishments during your time here in National Learning Network, Limerick. What you have learned over your time here will stand to you in the future as you continue in education or enter employment, or simply to live your life as a valued member of the communityโ
National Learning Network area manager Lisa Haugh said she was proud of what the students had achieved.
โThey have worked tremendously hard, theyโve shown incredible dedication, and they each deserve to feel enormously proud of their achievements. Each of the students have received a nationally accredited award. This award will help them whether they decide to go into further education or to seek employment,” she said.
