TWO LIMERICK bloggers are part of the Goos3D.ie blogging team that has been shortlisted for the โBest in Bloggingโ category at the national eir Spiders awards on Thursday, November 30.
Founded four years ago, the four man team at Goos3D.ie created their blog as a one-stop shop for consumer technology news and product reviews delivered in an accessible way to the general public.
According to Limerick man Jon Harrison, the Goos3D team are truly techies on a mission to make technology more understandable and accessible.
“I guess you could say we have developed a somewhat cult following. But we want to make tech fun, and I think you can see that with our content. Thankfully the guys over the eir Spiders seem to agree. Itโs been an exciting journey so far but we’re not done yet,โ he said.
John is joined by fellow Limerick native Dean Ahern on the four man team, ย which is headed by founder and editor Kilkenny man Martin Meany, who attended University of Limerick, and Gary Cronin from Dublin.
Jon, who also studied at UL is a content writer and takes care of the Social Media for the blog; Dean is also a content writer and video creator while Gary is a content and entertainment. All four team members have many years experience in the telecommunications industry.
โItโs cool being shortlisted for awards, but Iโll never forget the gentleman who asked for help with his Amazon Echo,” said Martin Meany.
“He had bought it and it was sitting in the press. He got in touch with us on Facebook and we got him up and running. He was so grateful and it really put what weโre doing at Goos3D into perspective. Weโre empowering people to adopt technology.
โBloggers tend to gather very loyal followers. We have some core followers and we respect them by remaining unbiased and honest with our reviews. Weโre always looking for new and fun ways to interact with our readers. If youโve got an Amazon Echo, you can listen to the latest headlines on that or chat with our Facebook Messenger chatbot to find some articles you like,โ he said.
Created in 1996, the eir Spiders are Irelandโs longest running internet awards, and past winners and shortlisted finalists have gone on to have very successful online businesses. The โBest in Bloggingโ category was added to the awards last year as a result of the growing demand for influencers to promote products.
