Schools burgled and roof lead stolen

-

THREE Limerick schools were burgled last week while a fourth school had lead stolen from its roof.

Gardai across a number of areas in the Limerick division are this week investigating burglaries at schools in Caherconlish, Askeaton, Sexton Street in the city and Dooradoyle.

Caherline National School in Caherconlish was broken into overnight last Wednesday while CBS secondary school on Sexton Street and Colaiste Mhuire secondary school in Askeaton were both broken into overnight last Saturday.

Gardai say that while thefts were minimal, all three schools were disrupted. Separately, lead was stolen from the roof of St Gabriels school which provides educational facilities for children with multiple disabilities.

Gardai advise all schools to pause and consider their security arrangements.

“As the crime prevention officer, I would be very happy to call to any school and do a security survey and provide some hints and tips for better security” Sgt Ber Leetch told the Limerick Post adding that inquiries can be made to local garda stations.
