A YOUNG Clare woman who had been reported as missing in France last week, has been found dead after sustaining a fall while out running.
Eimear Noonan (21) had lived in Annonay in the South East of France where she worked as a teaching assistant in a local school.
Last Wednesday, news that the 21-year-old was missing spread across social media platforms as members of the Noonan family travelled to France to join the search.
However, and tragically, the body of the UCC graduate and Feakle native was found after Eimear sustained a fall while out running in the French countryside.
Eimear’s brother Cathal shared the tragic news on Sunday.
“Eimear will be greatly missed by all who knew her, especially her parents Flan and Mary, her brothers Declan, Michael and Cathal and all her family and friends.
“We will be forever grateful for the outpouring of love and support we have received in recent days. We would like to thank the Irish and French authorities and the people of Annonay for the kindness and compassion they have shown us. We now appeal for privacy in this most difficult time as we bring Eimear home to her beloved Lough Graney and start the journey of grieving.”
The Department of Foreign Affairs are liaising with French authorities to repatriate Eimear’s remains to Ireland in the coming days.
