CLOSED Book is the first single to be lifted from Emma Langford’s debut album ‘Quiet Giant’. The Caherdavin singer/songwriter, described as a “Limerick original with talent to burn,” in this week’s Irish Times will release her album on October 18.
The video for this boisterous anthem was filmed around Limerick city, directed by George Hooker. The vibrant film stars many of Limerick’s creatives and most of all the city itself serving as a backdrop to the song.
When shooting the video Emma was asked by by-standers “why are you making the music video here, in Limerick?” the universal response was “why not?”.
The lyrics of Closed Book refers to people who go about their day so caught up in their own self-importance that they, “never fully appreciate the world around them; blind to the beauty of the small things, and the kindness of the people surrounding them.”
“Limerick is a vibrant, beautiful, creative city with a deeply ingrained sense of community spirit – Closed Book speaks to the person who is blind to that.”
