Hungarian maestro Gábor Tákacs Nagy conducts an Irish composition’s world premier at the concert hall this Friday night, September 29 at 8pm. The conductor is leading the Irish Chamber Orchestra, with whom he is artistic partner, in three works with an emphasis on strings and percussion.
The programme is varied but highlights a new work by Cork-born composer, Sam Perkin written for percussionist Alex Petcu. 365 Variations on a Gesture is inspired by a lifelong fascination with waves. This exciting new work features alongside Elgar’s touching miniature masterwork, his loved Serenade for Strings.
Brahms’ First Sextet sees the composer in mellow mode with melodies shining throughout, illuminating every phrase.
