A COWARDLY assault on a young woman in the city has been condemned as garda try to trace the attacker of a woman who knocked four of her teeth out with one punch.
The incident took place on a female last Friday evening at around 7.30pm.
Gardai say that the victim was walking on Catherine Street when she was beckoned over to a pulled up car.
The woman believed that the male driver needed directions but instead he punched her into the mouth, knocking out four of her teeth and causing a nose bleed.
Gardai, who are reviewing CCTV and numberplate recognition software in Henry Street, are looking for any witnesses to this assault and can be contacted on 061-212400.
Meantime, a knifepoint robbery is under investigation in Limerick this week after a young woman was targeted while walking on the Canal Bank near Grove Island last Thursday morning.
Gardai say that the when she was approached from behind by a male, the young woman’s attacker produced a knife and demanded her phone which she handed over and he then ran off.
Sergeant Ber Leetch of the Crime Prevention Office said that the this is a very popular walking route and Gardai in Mayorstone are asking any listeners who were in the canal bank area or Grove Island area last Thursday just before midday to contact them on 061 456980 if they can recall anybody acting out of the ordinary in the area.
