ALL star and former Limerick senior hurling captain, Ollie Moran, will led a band of Treaty men who will take on a Clare selection in a unique Ryder Cup style Spanish golf tournament on the Costa del Sol.

Former Clare hurling captain and two time All-Ireland Hurling Championship winner Brian Lohan will captain a Clare team in The Shannon Airport Cup, a Ryder Cup style golf challenge which takes place in a four day event on November 18 to 21 next at the majestic La Cala Golf Resort in Costa del Sol.

Conor Galvin CEO of Golf Voyager stated: “There is an appetite for competitive team golf with a difference and bringing a hurling rivalry into the equation will certainly add to the excitement. We hosted a similar Munster Vs Leinster rugby themed golf outing in Vilamoura back in January 2017 which was a huge success. We are running that event again in January 2018 and it is nearly sold out already so there is great interest in these type of events. We are also delighted that both Shannon Airport and Padraig McGrath from P&M Golf have come on board as sponsors”.

Welcoming this unique initiative Andrew Murphy, Managing Director, Shannon Airport said: “We are delighted to support this enterprising challenge. We would like to congratulate Conor Galvin and his team at Golf Voyager on this new venture and wish all of those flying from Shannon to Malaga an enjoyable trip. We look forward to learning which team wins the inaugural Shannon Airport Cup.”

The Shannon Airport Cup comprises a 3-night stay at Sunset Beach Club in Benalmadena and includes breakfast, 2 rounds of golf at La Cala Golf Resort with airport/golf transfers, buggies and commemorative polo shirt on arrival.

The format is a team of 2 (Four-ball better ball) which combines with the overall Clare Vs Limerick event. Prizes for the top 10 teams will include golfing holidays.

There are just 64 places available on the trip, 32 for Clare supporters and 32 for Limerick supporters with bookings now being taken.

The price is €325pp based on twin room sharing. Flights are not included but are available with Ryanair from Shannon.

To book your place or for more information call Golf Voyager on 061-514600.
