BOMBING around the Irish circuit’s top venues, Cork Opera House to The Gaeity to The Civic, ‘The Successful TD’ lands at Lime Tree Theatre on September 22 for two nights, 8pm.
A joint project between director Michael Scott and actors Jon Kenny and Mary McAvoy, they mined works by John B Keane, ‘Letters of a Successful TD’ and ‘Letters of an Irish Minister of State’ to fuel this knock-out funny punch against gombeen politics.
Using Keane’s beautiful language and savage ability at satire and exposition, Kenny and McAvoy play TD Tull McAdoo, wife Betty, son Mike, daughter Kate, party faithfuls Duxie and Charlie and the people of Kilnavarna. It’s soaking up the laughs nationwide. Book on www.limetreetheatre.ie
