HAVE you heard of hair embroidery or piercing or embellishment? It’s the new craze for great looks, inspired by the elaborate braiding and adornment evident in that mythological TV show, ‘Game of Thrones’.
Ravens Hair Salon at the Radisson Blu Hotel is expert in this fashion for which the salon’s Mike Munroe weaves tiny jewels and chains beautifully into hair that is styled into waves or plaited.
The look is whimsical, exciting and individual to each client.

“We had half a dozen bookings for this effect afterwards,” reports Ravens’ owner Susan Hackett. “It is called hair embroidery or hair piercing as well and this is a one-day look.
“Julie’s hair length is ideal for it as she is a Joico client. This range with its 19 amino acids has protected the integrity of her hair which is styled in beach waves for this shoot. It could be braided for another look”.
Susan prefers Ravens to choose the embelliishment for clients “as we know what works. Mike is a bespoke colourist who does free-hand contouring to hair, painting it by hand the way you would contour your face. While colour is his discipline, he is a world class dresser of hair who would be a sought after stylist anywhere in New York”.
