THE annual Pure M awards has produced deserving winners from this parish. The entertainment news site provides music and film news and cultural debate since 2014.
Singer/songwriter Emma Langford won the Best Female award and Best Venue 2017 went to Dolan’s.
The award is timely recognition for the singer who has gigged constantly and impressed locally and on the national airwaves with her writing and singing both live and on her debut EP.
2017 has been a busy year for Emma and with a debut album on the way it is only going to go one way from here, but regardless, she was very surprised to be a winner.
“I was SO surprised,” she told Limerick Post this week.
“I suppose I had it in my head that being from outside Dublin and not having too much of a name in the city yet would give me a disadvantage but I guess I was wrong!
“Totally delighted to get it. It meant a lot after a year of hard slog, just to get that little bit of recognition on a national scale.”
Emma is on a solo tour across the country in the next few months, sharing the stage with Don Mescall in Kilkenny (Hole in The Wall) this Sunday September 3. The debut album comes out on October 18. emmalangfordmusic.bandcamp.com to order one of the limited edition copies. Emma Langford and band play Dolan’s Warehouse on December 2.
