GARDAI in Roxboro have arrested a man in his late 20s in connection with a shooting incident that occurred on the southside of Limerick city this Tuesday afternoon at approximately 3pm.
The shooting is understood to have taken place near Kennedy Park.
An injured man, understood to be aged in his mid 30s and resident at a nearby halting site, was brought to University Hospital Limerick with apparent gunshot wounds and his condition is described as serious.
The gunman fled the scene in a car and Gardai are investigating if a burnt out jeep found in the area was connected to the shooting.
A firearm has been recovered as part of the investigation.
The man who was arrested is currently being detained at Roxboro Road Garda Station under Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act, 1939.
