A CANNABIS grow house with plants estimated to be worth hundreds of thousands of euro has been discovered by Gardai in Limerick this Thursday.

As a result of an extensive surveillance operation which lasted a number months, Gardai together with detectives tackling organised crime and officers from the divisional drugs unit, uncovered a substantial grow house at a County Limerick farmyard.

The discovery was made at a property outside the village of Adare and searches overnight are continuing.

Approximately 200 cannabis plants were discovered on Wednesday evening at Kilknockan outside Adare and the scene is being preserved for technical examination.

Gardai found an agricultural shed that had been extensively adapted to facilitate the growing of cannabis plants.

Suitable lighting and irrigation, together with grow trays and stands had been installed at the shed.

Two men, both Irish nationals and aged 56 and 58 were arrested at the scene and have been detained at Henry Street Garda Station in Limerick for questioning.

Other searches carried out at properties in Limerick City and County where a number of items were discovered are said not to be connected to the Adare grow house discovery, the Limerick Post has learned.
