ROUND FIVE of the Ulster Bank League kicks off this weekend following a two week break.
In Division 1A, Young Munster will host UCD at Tom Clifford Park at 2.30pm this Saturday. Gearoid Prendergast’s side lost out on the last play of the game against Trinity in round four and he will know that a win over ninth-placed UCD is a must this weekend to keep the pressure on the top two sides.
In the same Division, Garryowen will take on the aforementioned second placed Trinity University. If you are a neutral this weekend, the game at Dooradoyle is the one to watch as both the light blues and the students from Dublin play a great brand of attacking rugby.
In Division 1B, undefeated UL Bohemians will face Ballymena on the North Campus in UL. With Cathal Sheridan out for a number of months, the Robins will be under pressure to keep up their excellent run of recent results under the guidance of Christy Neilon and George Murray.
In the same Division, Shannon RFC will be looking for their first win of the season when they travel to face UCC at the Mardyke in Cork. In what is sure to be an emotional day for all, everyone in Limerick rugby hopes that ‘The Isle’ will be sung once more for a more happier reason this week.
Division 2B sees Old Crescent entertain Bective Rangers, who themselves will have a number of Limerick exiles in their ranks. Thomond, currently in ninth spot in 2B, travel to Barnhall hoping to get their season back on track after a tough opening four games.
In Division 2C, Navan will host Conor Hartigan’s Bruff side who are also in ninth on the table and in need of a win.
