GARDAI in Limerick are investigating reports that a male was exposing himself on Catherine Street in the city just before lunchtime on Tuesday.
It is understood that Henry Street gardai are reviewing CCTV footage in a bid to ascertain the identiy of the male who was spotted in the area at the time.
Shocked onlookers said that a man, aged in 40s, was exposing himself “whilst performing a lewd act” on the street as he looked up at an apartment across for the Citizens Information office.
The incident is said to have occurred at around 12:35pm on Tuesday afternoon, just before the lunchtime rush would have hit the restaurants and cafes nearby.
Meantime, Roxboro Gardai are to charge a male driver who was stopped by members of the divisional traffic corp for speeding. He cut in front of the garda patrol car and was also using a mobile phone while driving.
Subsequently, the driver was arrested and found to be intoxicated, and empty liquor bottles were found strewn about the car.
Tweeting a picture of the aftermath, the @gardatraffic account posted images of the empty bottles and the accompanying message that the driver did not have a valid licence, tax or insurance.
A file is being prepared for the DPP.
