LIMERICK yielded two winners when the mighty Druid Theatre named four recipients of its mentoring FUEL programme.

Liam McCarthy of Octopus Soup, a writer, actor, director is one and Wildebeest Theatre, created by Maria Boylan of GAFF with Priscilla Nic Chonmara, Meadhbh Haicéid and Liam Quinn, join him in the credits.

Andrea Cleary and Little John Nee are the other FUEL participants from now into June 2017.

FUEL has a west of Ireland application, looking only to counties Galway, Mayo, Leitrim, Roscommon, Sligo, Longford, Clare or Limerick for talent to support.

McCarthy and Boylan and company have the keys to Mick Lally Theatre in Galway for desk facilities, workshops, mentor meetings and project development. There’s a helpful stipend also.

What lies ahead for them in the close future? We’re told:

“Wildebeest Theatre is set to explore the modern phenomenon of window shopping for soul mates through apps such as Tinder, which will involve technology and audience interaction. Liam McCarthy will develop a risqué farce exploring the boundaries of liberal ideas in modern society”.
