Man pulled from River Shannon by St Michael’s rowers

A MAN has been rescued from the River Shannon this Friday evening after he was noticed in the water by a passerby on O’Callaghan’s Strand in the city.

At around 8pm this Friday evening emergency services were alerted to a person in the water near St Michaels Rowing Club.

Three appliances from Limerick City fire service attended along with Gardai, the emergency paramedics from the National Ambulance Service and The Limerick Marine Search and Rescue.

On arrival, firefighters found that a man in his late 30’s had been rescued from the water by members of St Michael’s rowing club who were training on the river at the time.

The man was treated at the scene for shock by members of the fire service before being handed over to emergency paramedics.

The man was brought to the University Hospital Limerick for further treatment.

Gardai are investigating the incident.
