IT has been lauded as the best in the world by lovers from Limerick and in the top ten places to eat before you die, but could Donkey Fords be herald as the best chipper in Ireland?

That is down to you the people of Limerick and further afield as the landmark chipper has been included on the shortlist of JUST EAT’s National Takeaway Awards 2016.

Donkey’s is one of four Limerick restaurants amongst the shortlist.

The awards recognise the quality of food, choice and service consistently delivered by this important sector of the food services industry

Together with the legendary John’s Street eatery, Lana Asian Street Food from Castletroy has been shortlisted an impressive four times in the Best Takeaway Ireland, Best Takeaway Thai, Best Takeaway Lunchtime and Best Takeaway Munster categories.

O’Connell Street’s Rockin Joe’s is nominated in the Best Takeaway American category while Camile Thai is nominated in the Best Takeaway Munster category.

Amanda Roche Kelly, MD at JUST EAT Ireland said: “A big congratulations to Lana Asian Street Food, Rockin Joe’s, Camile Thai and Donkey Ford’s who have all been shortlisted.

“The takeaway industry is thriving thanks to the commitment to excellence and quality from the owners and managers of the diverse range of restaurants throughout the country.”

“We are delighted to see so many newcomers this year and that counties across Ireland will be strongly represented at the finals on October 18.
