The home five-point banker of a tie is not on television, with Munster Rugby Ltd hopeful that a larger crowd than the approximate 10,000 at last weekend’s home tie against Edinburgh turns up.
Director of Rugby Rassie Erasmus is expected to use this weekend’s game as a chance to rotate his squad, with those expected to line out against Leinster on October 8 to be rested this Saturday.
Another factor for Munster Rugby and the hope of attracting fans to the Limerick City venue is the fact that there is some excellent club rugby on offer on Saturday as the Ulster Bank League enters round three.
In Division 1A, both Garryowen and Young Munster are at home at 2.30pm on Saturday. The Light Blues, fresh from their away win over Old Belvedere last weekend, take on Cork Con. The Tom Clifford Park side will host Clontarf this Saturday, looking to make it two wins from their opening three games.
In Division 1B, table toppers UL Bohemians are also at home as they take on Old Wesley on the 4G pitch on UL’s north campus.
In the same Division, Shannon, who have yet to record a win, travel to Ballynahinch up north.
Old Crescent will entertain Wanderers in Division 2B, while Thomond travel to the City of Derry in the same Division.
Finally, Division 2C sees Bruff travel up the M7 to take on Seapoint of Dublin. The county Limerick side lost out to Midleton last weekend.
