Osteoporosis Clinic Ireland is coming to Limerick

Osteoporosis is a silent disease affecting 1 in 2 women and 1 in 4 men over the age of 50 in Ireland. However, all age groups can be affected.

OSTEOPOSIS Clinic Ireland has evolved because of the ongoing need for support of people with osteoporosis. Both Susan Boland, a nutritional therapist (NT) and Karen Byrne, registered general nurse (RGN) have years of experience in all areas of bone health. Susan and Karen developed the clinic together with their chartered physiotherapists to assist clients in both managing and improving their bone density through the program devised.

When we started the clinic in Dublin we were inundated with enquiries from people around the country,” observes Susan. “This is why we are now bringing this service countrywide and to the people of Limerick as well as surrounding areas. We intend to revisit every three months to review our clients’ wellbeing and update their individual programs”.

Osteoporosis is preventable and treatable at all stages therefore it is important to address your bone health especially if it is hereditary. There are usually no warning signs an individual has developed osteoporosis and it is often only diagnosed when a bone is fractured which can happen after even minor falls.

Loss of bone-building materials can occur as the body ages, and is particularly prevalent among post-menopausal women.
