Baroque bias to ‘Il Furidondo, the Madman’

LIMERICK Arts Office writes in with notice of September’s Tuesday night classical music concert, the 27th, at All Saints Church in Castleconnell. Tomorrow night’s is the second in the annual Autumn Concert Series. Introduced by RTE lyric fm’s Liz Nolan, you’ll be present for ‘Il Furidondo, the Madman’ – in this hallowed place.

Baroque violinist Debbie Diamond, visiting from London, appears as a special guest in this concert to dazzle the listener with some Corelli. This performance offers the listener a spirited and evocative journey through sounds birthed nearly 400 years ago.

Cellist Aoife Nic Athlaoich, playing on a late 18th-century English cello by Jonathan Barrett, and harpsichordist Yonit Kosovske present solo and duo instrumental pieces from the 17th and 18th centuries.

Composers include household names like Bach, Geminiani, Telemann and some lesser-known works by Frescobaldi, Froberger, Triemer, Barrière, and Jacquet de la Guerre.
