EXPERIENCING a trip of a lifetime to Lapland will become a possible after it was announced that a special seasonal flight to the Artic Circle will take place this December from Shannon Airport.
“This truly is a trip of a lifetime that you’ll never, ever forget. Such a magical experience” said Declan Power, Head of Aviation Development at Shannon Airport after Sunway Holidays said it would run the service to Santa’s home on December 13 next, all of 2,500 miles away.
‘Santa’s Sleepover’ will see passengers, both young and young at heart; enjoy a trip to the fairy-tale world of snow covered forests and the opportunity to meet Santa himself.
Lapland has the last remaining expanse of wilderness in northern Europe, including the coastline, forests, mountains and unspoilt rivers.
In winter this becomes a wonderland of snow where privileged visitors get to enjoy the fun of snowmobile adventures, toboggans and sleigh rides.
“A flight to Lapland is the only service that engenders this much excitement.
“We’ve had our Santa flights for the last three years here and they’ve been a magnificent treat.
“But with this once-off service, we are delighted that passengers from Shannon will have the option of going to Lapland.
“It will be a special trip and there will be a great buzz on departure day and, no doubt, a thousand stories told on return and a thousand memories made,” he said.
