Limerick workers would prefer to stay in bed rather than commute to work

MORE than half of the Limerick and Irish workforce would prefer to sleep-in or do something more productive rather than driving to work, a survey has found.

Regus, the flexible office space provider, found that driving or commuting to work is an obstacle in life with one in three regarding it as a brain drain on their day.

This ‘limbo’ of time that is mainly seen as neither productive work time, nor enjoyable personal time is widely regarded as an obstacle to more useful or entertaining pursuits.

33 per cent of workers in, according to Regus, report that commuting to work is a pointless and undefined time in the day.

29 per cent of those surveyed positively hate their commute and brand it as a ‘waste’ of their precious time.

That means that well over half of the Irish workforce would prefer to be doing something more productive in the mornings, or sleeping in.

Gearoid Collins, Regus country manager Ireland comments, “As commute times continue to get longer and longer, it is devastating to find that the vast majority of workers regard their daily travel into work and back home as a complete drain on their work day productivity and that they are equally unable to devote it to personal or leisure activities.

“Savvy businesses wanting to restore productivity and reward workers with more personal time or simply with a lie-in every once in a while, would do well to allow employees to work closer to home at least some of the time.”
