A number of horses have been seized in Limerick and owners have until Monday to claim them from the pound

FOUR horses and two donkeys were seized by Limerick City and County Council and their owners or those who wish to stake claim have until next Monday to retrieve the animals.

A five-year-old brown and white mare was seized at Barry’s Field, Southill last Thursday.

On the same day, a four-year-old brown and white mare was also seized at Quarry Field, Southill.

On Tuesday August 30, a two-year-old brown female donkey and a two-year-old grey donkey were both seized at Rhebogue Meadows by the local authority.

A bay male three-year-old horse was seized on Knocklisheen Road as was a three year old brown and white male.

The council seized the horses on the basis that their owners are not known or identifiable.

In accordance with local bye-laws, impounded horses are put down if they are not claimed within five days and payment of โ‚ฌ1,000 is made.
