THE Limerick based ‘Jumping Hurdles Horse Project’ is in the running for a share of the €130,000 Coca-Cola ‘Thank You’ fund.
The project, devised by Extern Limerick, provides young people across Limerick city with the competencies to seek employment in the equine sector.
The ‘Thank You’ fund awards 13 grants to projects that inspire and support young people in Ireland and Northern Ireland from its shortlist of 17 projects from all over the country.
Additionally, Junior Chamber International, with its branches in Limerick and Dublin, has been shortlisted for its ‘University Mentorship Project’ that matches second-year students in third level institutions with a mentor in their chosen field enabling the intergenerational knowledge transfer of key professional skills.
Shortlisted from 300 entries, the organisations have been invited to pitch their projects to a panel of judges for a chance to receive a grant of €30,000, €10,000 or €5,000.
“ We were blown away by the quality of the entries received this year; each one with vast potential to inspire and support young people in communities across the country,” said broadcaster Eoghan McDermott, who is ambassador for the Coca-Cola Thank You Fund.
The Fund is being delivered in partnership with the Irish Youth Foundation and YouthAction Northern Ireland.
Each of the shortlisted organisations will deliver a pitch to the judging panel and field a series of questions to determine which projects receive the funding.
