LIMERICK Choral Union (LCU) begins a new season with festivities in mind. The 120-strong choir that has been delighting audiences for more than 50 years now confirms Sunday December 4 in UCH Limerick for their next performance.
Karl Jenkins’ ‘Stella Natalis’ and Patrick Hawes’ ‘Song of Songs’ will be the order of the day, each a thrill to perform. Together with the LCU Orchestra and soprano soloist Sarah Dolan, it will be a night to remember for LCU members and audiences alike.
If you would like to take part and be involved in this memorable concert, LCU’s new members’ night will take place next Tuesday September 6 at 8pm in Christchurch Hall, O’Connell Street. The only requirements necessary to join are to be aged over 18, be able to sing in tune, hold a note and that you love singing.
LCU has a buddy system in place whereby existing members take new members under their wings, providing them with help and support. There’s a terrific social dimension also.
Rehearsals begin on Wednesday September 7 at 8pm to 10:10pm and every Wednesday after that in Christchurch Hall. Tel. 089-2267899, see www.thelcu.com and facebook Limerick Choral Union; also Entertainments’ page 91.
