GARDAI are continuing their investigations into last week’s significant drugs and firearms seizure in County Limerick.
Upwards of €126,000 worth of varying drugs together with two firearms and ammunition, were discovered in Pallasgreen last Wednesday following a targeted operation aimed at disrupting serious organised crime.
It is believed that the gang who were in possession of the drugs and firearms have ties to criminal figures in Limerick city.
Last week, as part of Operation Thor, gardaí seized cannabis herb, cocaine, benzodiazepines and alprazolam [prescription tablets] with a combined estimated value of €126,000.
During the garda raids which targeted the gang’s criminal activity, €94,200 worth of cannabis herb, cocaine valued at €22,500, benzodiazepines worth €7,300 and alprazolam valued at €2,000 was seized.
Two firearms, ammunition and a firearm component were also found at Brook’s Bridge near Pallasgreen.
As part of the serious crime investigations, Operation Thor utilised upwards of 20 gardai to out the searches together with members of the divisional drugs unit and senior members of the Limerick division.
The operation has been in train for a number of months and the latest seizures have given gardai a number of lines of enquiry to follow.
No arrests have been made as of yet, gardai confirmed this week.
