THE LIMERICK minor hurlers are in All Ireland quarter final action this Sunday at 12noon in Thurles.
The county’s last remaining team in championship action take on Wexford in what is the curtain raiser to the senior All Ireland quarter finals at hurling HQ.
Limerick manager Pat Donnelly has only one injury doubt with Micheal Burke having picked up a knock in a club game this week.
With several rounds of minor club hurling and football action since the heavy Munster final loss to Tipperary, Donnelly has only had four sessions with his charges ahead of this weekend’s make or break tie.
“To be honest, the break away has been good for the lads. We won’t really know how we are mentally and physically until closer to the weekend. We were obviously very down after the Munster final, but we are wholly focused on Wexford now and we know we need to perform.”
Indeed, Limerick have met Wexford twice this season in challenge games, while they also met in a Wexford under 17 tournament last season. Donnelly expects a tight affair.
“They are very similar to us as a team. We know they are really strong and they will be disappointed also with their provincial final loss to Dublin. Minor is a grade that you can almost expect the unexpected. We know what we need to do and we can only plan for that.”
