Patrick is Ireland’s strongest man

-

A LIMERICK man is now officially the strongest man in all of Ireland.

Patrick O’Dwyer (30), who recently retained his title as the strongest man in the Republic, traveled to Bangor, County Down last weekend to compete in the All-Ireland event. Patrick, from Newcastle West, was facing the formidable Sean ‘The Giant’ O’Hagan, a man considered among the world’s best.

But, thanks to a diet consisting of up to 70 chicken fillets per week, a forward-thinking approach to conditioning, and the help of his nearest and dearest, Patrick defeated his seven-foot nemesis, taking the All-Ireland title in the process.

This is Patrick’s first time winning the All-Ireland title and his reward is a place in the UK championships which take place in eight weeks time. Should he prosper there he will move on to the World Championships and a step closer towards realising his dream of making a living out of the sport he loves.

Those hoping to see Patrick’s momentous achievement for themselves can do so on RTÉ 2 television in a couple of weeks time.
