Competition is healthy, or so it would seem for the Bank of Ireland Runway Night Run, with businesses set to go to the tape and vie for the outright winner of the event’s ‘Corporate Challenge’ on Friday, June 17th.A new aspect of this year’s event, the ‘Corporate Challenge’, has already generated considerable interest, with entrants set to include a number of multi-nationals based in the region.

Companies are permitted to enter up to 10 employees in the competition with the times of their top five (must be a minimum of 2 male and female times) accumulated into an overall time, with the winning team being announced on the night and presented with a crystal trophy and discounted shopping night for Shannon Duty Free.

The Bank of Ireland Runway Night Run is Ireland’s first and favourite ‘runway run’ and this year – the third year in a row the event has been hosted – will be bigger than ever as 2,500 runners and walkers will take to the tape – double the number in the inaugural year, 2014.

The hugely popular event was launched at Shannon Airport by a host of stars, including Bank of Ireland Finance Sales Manager Henry Shefflin.

Online entry for the event is open at www.shannonairport.ie or on the eventmaster.ie website.

“We’ve had two great years so far but this year’s event will be the best yet. It’s bigger as we have 500 more places than last year and it’s longer as we have a 7.5km run as well as a 5km run,” said Shannon Airport Operations Director Niall Maloney.

“We have had great interest so far and would advise people who want to be with us on the night for what is a really novel event to book their place as soon as possible to avoid being disappointed.”

Proceeds from the event this year will go to the designated charities of Shannon Group, the airport’s parent company. They are Irish Children’s Arthritis Network (iCan) and Abalta Special School for students with autism in Galway.
