ELEVEN new “GoSafe” speed detection locations in Limerick are amongst the 355 new monitoring zones that have been identified by Gardaí in their latest crackdown on speeding drivers.
Following a review of the collision analysis of the road network based on the most recent collision statistics some four years after the “GoSafe” programme was launched, Gardai have identified new zones in need of monitoring.
“The objective was to identify new speed enforcement zones not currently being monitored as part of the current project and to remove those existing zones which were no longer high risk zones.”
By identifying and targeting these high risk areas, Gardai say that the aim is to continue to reduce the number and severity of collisions, thus save more lives and prevent more injuries from occurring. This makes them roads safer for every road user.
Some of the new road stretches to be monitored from this weekend include;
R518 joining N21 and N69
R513 through Herbertstown
R513 through Hospital
N24 at junction R505 near Ballyart
R505 between Cappamore and Doon
R526 from the Crescent Shopping Centre to the South Court Hotel roundabout
R511 near Roxboro Road Garda Station
R527 Condell Road outbound from Shannon Bridge
